How Is a Breast Enlargement Surgery Performed ?

The most commonly performed cosmetic surgery in past few years is breast enlargement surgery. Every woman wants to look beautiful and attractive and breast augmentation or enlargement is quite beneficial procedure for this purpose as it helps you to enhance the shape and size of breasts which ultimately improves the overall appearance.

Breast enlargement surgery is generally performed under general anesthesia as an outpatient surgery or requires just one night stay. On the other hand, it can also be performed under local anesthesia that involves numbing the breasts only to avoid pain and discomfort. The duration of procedure can be from one hour to few hours depending on the condition of patient and the changes required in the breasts.

Here is the procedure of breast enlargement surgery how it is performed. After the anesthesia has taken effect, the surgeon makes incision to make a pocket in the breast tissues for placement of breast implants. Breast implants are the devices that are inserted in the breasts to give them volume and shape and mostly are filled with saline solution or silicone gel. After the incisions are made, implants are placed in the breasts and are positioned properly for optimal appearance. After confirming the proper placement of implants, surgeon closes the incisions using stitches though tape and glue can also be used. There are more than one sites where incisions can be made and the selection of site depends on patient’s choice and surgeon’s recommendation. Breast enlargement surgery may take duration of one hour to few hours depending on the condition of patient and changes required.

After the completion of procedure, recovery period starts. During this time period, patient needs to follow surgeon’s instructions strictly and take care of herself. After few days bandages and stitches are removed. Patient may feel swelling or tenderness in the breasts but it is temporary and after couple of days, these problems subside. Patient recovers from the surgery fully after nearly two weeks and during this period of time, she must take the medications prescribed by surgeon regularly and should keep herself away from heavy tasks and exercises.

If some women do not want to undergo breast augmentation through implants, some other options are also available to enhance the shape and size of breasts. These methods are fat injections and macrolane injections. Fat injections involves the procedure of liposuction also in which fat is taken from some part of body having more fat like abdomen, buttocks, thighs etc and is injected in the breasts to give them volume and shape. This method results in less increase in size but is less invasive as compared to inserting implants. Macrolane injections are type of fillers that are used to give volume to the breasts. Use of macrolane injections is totally new, advanced and non invasive approach but this method can bring a little change in the size.
